Bayern continued their impressive run, securing the title with a 3–2 victory over VfB Stuttgart in the final, completing a historic continental treble. As the runners-up, VfB Stuttgart earned a spot in the third qualifying round of the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League, while Bayern, having also won the Bundesliga, qualified for the 2013–14 UEFA Champions League.
