In the 2019 UEFA Super Cup, Chelsea took the lead in the 36th minute when Christian Pulisic threaded a pass through to Olivier Giroud, who calmly slotted a left-footed shot into the right corner of the net. Pulisic then had a goal disallowed for offside, confirmed by VAR.
Liverpool equalized early in the second half, with Sadio Mané scoring in the 48th minute after Roberto Firmino flicked the ball past the goalkeeper, allowing Mané to finish from close range.
