UEFA Super Cup 2002 Champions, final match and achievements

UEFA Super Cup 2002 was the 27th UEFA Super Cup, an annual association football match contested by the winners of the previous season’s UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions. The 2002 UEFA Super Cup took place on 30 August 2002, featuring Spain’s Real Madrid and the Netherlands’ Feyenoord. Real Madrid earned their spot by defeating Bayer Leverkusen in the 2002 UEFA Champions League Final. Feyenoord qualified by overcoming Borussia Dortmund in the 2002 UEFA Cup Final. Real Madrid emerged victorious, winning 3–1 and claiming their first UEFA Super Cup title.

Match Summary:
Real Madrid dominated early, with Feyenoord struggling to match the Spanish giants’ pace and technical ability. An own goal by Feyenoord’s Patrick Paauwe in the 15th minute put Real Madrid ahead. Then, Roberto Carlos doubled their lead with a long-range effort that slipped past the Feyenoord goalkeeper. Guti added a third goal for Madrid in the 39th minute, making it 3-0 before halftime.
In the second half, Feyenoord managed to pull one back through Pierre van Hooijdonk, who scored with a well-taken free kick in the 56th minute. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome Real Madrid’s lead, and Madrid held firm to secure the win.
