The 2017 FIFA Club World Cup was the 14th edition of the international club football tournament organized by FIFA, featuring the champions of the six continental confederations along with the host nation’s league champions. It was held in the United Arab Emirates.
Real Madrid, the defending champions, qualified for the tournament by winning the 2016–17 UEFA Champions League, making them the first team to qualify for the Club World Cup as defending champions. They went on to defeat Grêmio 1–0 in the final, becoming the first team to successfully defend their FIFA Club World Cup title.

Note: Al-Jazira won the 2016–17 UAE Pro League on 29 April 2017. Their participation in the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup was officially confirmed on 11 September 2017 after Al-Ain became the last team from the United Arab Emirates to be eliminated from the 2017 AFC Champions League.
