UEFA Super Cup 2007

UEFA Super Cup 2007 was the 32nd UEFA Super Cup, an annual football match between the winners of the previous season’s UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions. The 2007 UEFA Super Cup was held at the Stade Louis II in Monaco on 31 August, featuring Milan, the 2006–07 UEFA Champions League winners, and Sevilla, the 2006–07 UEFA Cup champions. Sevilla aimed to become only the second team to defend the Super Cup title, a feat first achieved by Milan, who entered their seventh Super Cup—one more than Barcelona.
In light of Sevilla midfielder Antonio Puerta’s recent passing, there was speculation about postponing the match, but it proceeded, with all players wearing “PUERTA” on their shirts as a tribute. Milan won 3–1 with second-half goals from Filippo Inzaghi, Marek Jankulovski, and UEFA Club Footballer of the Year Kaká, overcoming Sevilla’s early lead from Renato in the 14th minute. This victory earned Milan their fifth Super Cup title, setting a new record.
