UEFA Super Cup 2017 Summary
In the 2017 UEFA Super Cup, Real Madrid faced Manchester United in a match filled with intense moments and top-quality football. The game started with Real Madrid showing their intent early on. In the 16th minute, Casemiro came close to opening the scoring when he headed the ball against the bar after a corner from Toni Kroos on the left-hand side.
Just eight minutes later, Casemiro managed to break the deadlock, scoring with a precise left-footed strike after receiving a well-timed pass into the box from Dani Carvajal, putting Real Madrid 1–0 up.
In the second half, Real Madrid doubled their lead in the 52nd minute when Isco finished calmly, side-footing the ball into the bottom corner of the net from six yards out after a slick pass from Gareth Bale. Real Madrid continued to threaten, and in the 61st minute, Bale hit the bar with a shot from the right side of the penalty area.
Manchester United managed to pull a goal back just a minute later when Romelu Lukaku reacted quickly to a rebound. After Nemanja Matić’s initial shot was parried by Keylor Navas, Lukaku followed up and scored to make it 2–1. Despite this, Real Madrid held on to secure the victory and win the UEFA Super Cup.
