UEFA Super Cup 2013 was the 38th UEFA Super Cup, an annual football match organized by UEFA and contested by the reigning champions of the two main European club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The 2013 UEFA Super Cup saw a rematch of the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final, featuring Bayern Munich, the 2012–13 UEFA Champions League winners, and Chelsea, the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League champions. After defeating Bayern in the 2012 Champions League Final, Chelsea made their second consecutive Super Cup appearance. The match was held on 30 August 2013 at the Fortuna Arena in Prague, Czech Republic, marking the first time since 1998 that the Super Cup was played outside of Monaco’s Stade Louis II.
Bayern Munich became the first German team to win the UEFA Super Cup, triumphing over Chelsea in a penalty shoot-out after extra time. This match was also notable for being the first Super Cup to be decided by penalties. Chelsea’s loss made them the first team to suffer consecutive Super Cup defeats since Porto in 2004.
