Match Summary:
Real Madrid dominated early, with Feyenoord struggling to match the Spanish giants’ pace and technical ability. An own goal by Feyenoord’s Patrick Paauwe in the 15th minute put Real Madrid ahead. Then, Roberto Carlos doubled their lead with a long-range effort that slipped past the Feyenoord goalkeeper. Guti added a third goal for Madrid in the 39th minute, making it 3-0 before halftime.
In the second half, Feyenoord managed to pull one back through Pierre van Hooijdonk, who scored with a well-taken free kick in the 56th minute. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome Real Madrid’s lead, and Madrid held firm to secure the win.
