FC Barcelona staged a historic comeback on Sunday, crushing arch-rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in a Spanish Super Cup final edition of El Clásico held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid struck early when Vinícius Jr. dispossessed Marc Casado and launched a lightning-fast counterattack, setting up Kylian Mbappé, who deceived Alejandro Balde before slotting the ball past the keeper to put Los Blancos ahead within five minutes.
However, Barcelona responded in style. In the 22nd minute, rising star Lamine Yamal weaved through defenders and fired a clinical shot past Thibaut Courtois to level the score. Fifteen minutes later, Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty after Eduardo Camavinga fouled Gavi in the box. Raphinha then extended the lead in the 39th minute, heading home a Jules Koundé cross. The Brazilian later set up Alejandro Balde, who found the net just before halftime, sending Barcelona into the break with a commanding 4-1 lead.
