DFB-Pokal 2018-19

DFB-Pokal 2018-19 was the 76th season of the annual German football cup competition. The 2018–19 DFB-Pokal featured 64 teams, including all clubs from the previous Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga seasons. The competition started on 17 August 2018, spanning six rounds, and culminated in the final at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on 25 May 2019. This venue, which has hosted the final since 1985, remains a symbolically neutral ground for the tournament’s climax.
Reigning champions Eintracht Frankfurt, who defeated Bayern Munich 3–1 in the previous final, were eliminated in the first round by fourth-division SSV Ulm in a surprising 2–1 upset. Bayern Munich ultimately secured the title with a decisive 3–0 victory over RB Leipzig, marking their 19th DFB-Pokal win and completing their 12th domestic double. This achievement led to Bayern’s matchup with Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund in the 2019 DFL-Supercup. Bayern’s Champions League qualification through the Bundesliga allowed VfL Wolfsburg, who finished sixth, to enter the group stage of the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League, with seventh-placed Eintracht Frankfurt also securing a spot in the competition’s second round.
